Vote Brian Perez District 4, Monterey
Brian Perez was born and raised in Southern California. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science and Criminal Justice from California State University, San Bernardino in 1997. Shortly after, he joined the Marine Corps Officer Candidate Class Ground program in 1998.
From 1998 to 2001, Perez served on active duty as a
combat arms officer with the 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. As a Platoon Commander, he was responsible for twelve amphibious
assault vehicles and 35 Marines. Perez concluded his
active-duty tour at the rank of Captain, transitioning into the Marine Corps Reserves as an Executive Officer for Delta Company, 4th Tank Battalion until 2003.
In 2003, Perez shifted to inactive reserve status to complete the Police Academy at the Goldenwest Law Enforcement Training Center in Huntington Beach, California. Graduating as the class president, he embarked on a law enforcement career with a small agency in north Orange County. Perez served in various roles, including Field Training Officer, SWAT, Public Relations Officer, Range Master, Honor Guard, and Detective, specializing in financial crimes.
Between 2008 and 2012, Perez was recalled to active duty with the Marine Corps. He was promoted to Major in 2010 and deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Perez served as the Police Advisory Team Officer in Charge, training and advising the Afghan Uniformed Police in Helmand Province.
From March 2016 to September 2018, Perez commanded Delta Company, 4th Tanks, overseeing a company of M1A1 Abrams battle tanks and 135 Marines. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 2018 and continues to serve as an active reservist, currently as a Team Leader for Marine Corps Advisor Company – Bravo (MCAC-B).

In 2019, the Del Rey Oaks Police Department recruited Perez to assist with the Monterey Airport Police merger. Relocating to Monterey with his family, Perez has since been dedicated to transforming the Del Rey Oaks Police Department into a model small-town agency. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2019 and has fostered strong collaborations with other peninsula agencies.
Brian Perez is deeply committed to the Monterey community. Married to his wife Melinda, they have two children attending Monterey High School and La Mesa Elementary. Perez is actively engaged in local affairs and understands the unique culture and climate of Monterey.
Brian Perez's extensive military and law enforcement experience, coupled with his dedication to community service, make him a strong candidate for local office.
